Seitz: E. latifascia Wkr. (25 a) is a rather large species from Mexico, the whole of Central America, Para as far as Peru. — The forewings are brown with black spots; the largest are situate: at the base of vein 1 and in the surroundings of the cell-end, particularly between the median veins. Postmedian distally long- clentate spots above the lower median vein, the middle and upper radial, with whitish diffuse spots between them; a submarginal row of oblong spots. Hindwings transparent blackish-grey, at the border darker. Abdomen red with a large, triangular, blackish-brown spot at the base and black apex. Single black dorsal spots; broad black lateral stripes. Venter yellowish-rosy. Cat. lep. Ph. Brit. Mus. Vol. 1: 1095 Eucereon latifascia Hear and thorax pale brown; two orange spots on back of head; neck with some crimson; palpi at sites, tegulae and patagia streaked with black; metathorax with yellowish spots and black medial spot; coxae crimson; abdomen crimson, with blackish dorsal patch extending to 4th segment and followed by a more or less prominent series of points, the terminal segment black, broad lateral black fascim, the ventral surf ace pale crimson. Fore wing pale brown; the basal area with slight black streaks on costal half, prominent streaks on each side of vein 1, and an oblique streak on inner margin; two antemedial small spots in cell and one on costa; spots at middle and upper angle of cell, and a streak or two spots in its lower part : a streak below base of vein 2 and two wedge-shaped marks above inner margin; a series of spots beyond the cell, double between veins 7 and 3, theu bent inwards and with a large elliptical spot above vein 2; a postmedial series of streaks, becoming large dentate marks above veins 2, 5, and 6 with whitish marks between them; a subterminal series of elongate spots and a terminal series of points on the veins. Hind wiug hyaline, the veins and terminal area broadly and irregularly suffused with fuscous; veins 3,--! from angle. Undersido of fore wing with white spot in cell, two beyond it, and two between veins 3 and 5 nearer termen. If ab.
